Dear Colleagues,
We are excited to invite you to the 45th Annual Society for Mental Health Research (SMHR)
Conference, which will take place from November 19–21, 2025, at the Adelaide Convention
Centre, South Australia. This year, we are proud to present the theme "Pathways for
Diversity, Equity, and Personalisation in Mental Health Care."
Mental health care must evolve to meet the needs of diverse populations, and this conference
will bring together experts, clinicians, researchers, policymakers, and individuals with
lived experience to explore how we can build a more inclusive, equitable, and personalised
mental health system. As we continue to advance mental health research, it is essential that
we consider the wide range of biological, psychological, and social factors that impact
individuals' well-being, and ensure that mental health care is accessible and effective for
all.
This year’s conference will showcase cutting-edge research, innovative interventions, and
meaningful conversations that seek to address the disparities in care and the urgent need
for personalised treatment approaches. The event will provide a platform to discuss emerging
trends in mental health, with a focus on inclusive practices that can meet the needs of
individuals from all walks of life.
Set in the heart of Adelaide, a city known for its vibrant cultural scene, stunning parks,
and renowned food and wine regions, this year’s conference promises to offer more than just
professional growth. From the historic beauty of North Terrace to the bustling laneways
filled with world-class restaurants, Adelaide provides the perfect backdrop for connecting,
learning, and relaxing. We hope you’ll take the opportunity to explore the city’s rich
history and hospitality while engaging with colleagues from across the globe.
The SMHR 2025 Conference will feature a range of opportunities for early-career researchers
and students to present their work through symposia, free papers, and poster sessions. We
also offer travel grants, carer fellowships, and discounted registrations for students to
ensure the conference is as accessible as possible for everyone.
We encourage you to submit your abstracts and join us in Adelaide for this exciting
opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions, forge new collaborations, and
contribute to advancing mental health care. Please share this invitation with your
colleagues, and we look forward to welcoming you to Adelaide for SMHR 2025.
Sincerely,
Co-Convenor's
SMHR President
